First Light

oil on linen panel

Repeating the sunflowers to practice capturing the light effect.  I think I represented it better in this one.  It's amazing how much the values may need to be adjusted once the background colors go in.

Catchin' Rays

I used dramatic lighting to capture the illusion of light shining on and coming through the petals.

Turn Your Face to the Sun

The Maori people have a simple and beautiful proverb about optimism: "Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you."

Go Your Own Way

oil on 1 1/2" deep stretched canvas

Getting funky with these abstract flamingos.  I used this photo from morgue files to study it's abstract qualities.  I love all of the large shapes, and really focused on those.  I'm drawn to graphic designs and love to use them in my compositions.  Painted on 1 1/2" deep stretched canvas - no frame needed.

It Makes Me Happy

The buyer of my piece "Earn Your Stripes" was kind enough to send me a picture of the painting framed and hanging in her beautiful home.  I love how she has it displayed!  It really is such a great feeling to have someone share a connection with my work and it is an honor for them to want to live with it in their home.  Thank you Lesley!

Tomball Art Show - Spring 2019

I'm so honored to bring home three ribbons from the Tomball Art Show.  I met some very talented artists, and I'm looking forward to hanging out with this fine group of individuals!

Fairy Magnolias

20 x 10
oil on 1 1/2" stretched canvas

The lemon scent from these Fairy Magnolias is heavenly.  My studio smells amazing!  This is a larger work for me and is also painted on stretched canvas, so no framing required.
