Double Shot of Sunshine

oil on 1 1/2" deep stretched canvas

I love the rustic beauty of Texas, especially the wildflowers.  More practice with painting the light.  I am always amazed at how much life the light brings to a composition!  These Brown Eyed Susans are painted on gallery wrapped canvas.  There is no need for a frame.

Brown Eyed Girl

oil on 1 1/2" deep stretched canvas

Brown Eyed Susans are one of the many beautiful wildflowers of Texas.  They are as tough as nails to  survive the relentless summer heat.

Squeeze In

oil on 1 1/2" deep stretched canvas

The composition for this original oil painting of oranges was inspired by the green bowl.  I thought the color of the oranges complemented it so well, and I really like how it captures their reflections.  I picked up the bowl at one of those Southern Living house parties a long time ago.  At the time, I felt like I had to buy something, but now I've grown to love it!

oil on 1 1/2"deep stretched canvas

It was a challenge to paint larger than my usual smaller sizes, but these caladiums needed room to stretch out.   I used some of my pyrrol colors on this one and I'm pretty pleased with the sunny results.  It's got me rethinking my cadmium standbys.  Experimenting is a good thing!

On The Bright Side

oil on gallery wrapped canvas

My kids just got out of school and summer has begun!!  Let the neighborhood barbecues begin... strawberries in fruit salad, strawberry daiquiries, strawberry shortcake, strawberry-rhubarb pie...

This is painted on a 1 1/2 " deep gallery wrapped canvas.  No frame is needed.
